Hello everyone! In this ranking, I’m excited to dive into the world of beloved house pets. I’ll be counting down the top 6 most popular companions, ranking them from the least to the most favored…so I hope you like my rankings and let’s get started!
6. Fish

I’ve never liked fish; the required work —from buying a fish tank or bowl, to having to clean the tank every month just to not even be able to interact with them, always just felt sort of like a crappy exchange. My mom really likes fish, and if she was in charge of this ranking, she would probably rank this animal at #1. But for me, I would rather take this animal on my plate.
5. Rabbits/Bunnys

I really find these animals really cute and very silly, but this animal costs a lot to take care of and additionally they also cost a lot to buy. With fish, they are generally like $2 maybe $5, but these animals are insane in cost. I should also mention I’m not very fond of sharing my carrots. But this animal does at least interact with you and is actually rather cute, unlike fish. I think rabbits and bunnies are deserving of this spot on the list. And compared to the other animals, specifically the ones in #3 and higher, nobunny compares to them
4. Hamsters/Guinea Pigs

When I was younger, I had a hamster…and it died fairly quickly. His bites felt ticklish, and the thing was indeed pretty cute, but I’ve never had any real experience with this animal besides that. They also have a really short lifespan of 2-3 years, so I wasn’t going to stay with it long anyhow. I really just think this pet is sort of just “eh” —not that great but not terrible either, and I did enjoy the time I did spend with this pet.
3. Birds

I love birds so dang much, especially parakeets and parrots. Parrots talking is just so cool to me, and it is amazing how smart they are. I’ve not seen many people own a bird other than on social media, but maybe it’s because, once again, the high expense of the animal, with the lowest price you can find being $300 for a pet bird, and if it’s any cheaper, there’s probably something wrong with the bird or it’s very old and practically on their death bed.
2. Dogs

This animal is actually prohibited to have in our living space because of our religious beliefs, but whenever I see a dog in someone else’s home or outside around town, I always feel the urge to screm out “Your dog is so cute!” or “That’s one good-looking boy!” I honestly love dogs, and I could definitely see myself getting a dog in the future, but keeping it in my backyard if I have a spacious enough yard that can fit a large insulated doghouse. But overall, good pet.
1. Cats

Cats literally are the best creatures in the entire world, and I love every single one. Tabby cats, shorthairs, even naked cats. Cats are honestly one of my favorite animals including pets, exotic and wild animals, being on the same level as the incredible flamingo. Every cat I’ve seen has either been really chill, really happy, or just downright angry all of the time. My favorite cats are probably tabby cats, which contrary to a popular misconception, is not a breed but a coat pattern with an “M” like mark on their heads. My last 2 cats were tabbys, and they were both incredible cats, besides one of them running away. 😢
And there we have it, my ranking of the 6 most owned house pets. In the future, I’ll do other versions of stuff like this, like farm animals or rodents. I hope you liked the ranking, and I hope to share more random bits of things floating around my brain with you very, very soon. Later. 🫡
